Good Corporate Strategy Process

 

Back when I was running a large group (50+) for Danaher I was fascinated by their strategic process.

It was a yearly process and although laborious, I really enjoyed it.  The analysis and planning process they had in place was very sound although the rollup of all of the divisions crushed much of the signal into something generic and without meaning.

Crowd-sourcing strategy and inviting a wider group certainly has potential but the level of honesty required to make that effective is pretty rare in my experience.  I also wonder how ~long~ it would be effective as most employee ideas simply could not be implemented for reasons of limited bandwidth and I expect process exhaustion set in as plans are not acted on year after year.
